Veterans Day 2011
This Doodle’s Key Themes
This doodle was a personal endeavor as much as it was an effort to honor all veterans, as my father is a Vietnam War vet. I wanted to depict a moment that would touch the hearts of not only veterans, but their children, spouses, and loved ones as well. We received a great suggestion from a Google veteran to illustrate this very concept with a yellow ribbon tied around an old oak tree, which I felt was just perfect. To lend the moment a light and nostalgic quality, I painted the doodle in watercolors and ink.
