Venezuela National Day 2016
Today marks Venezuelan Independence day, when the people of Venezuela chose to found their own nation based on principles of equality and freedom. Venezuela's colorful culture includes a mix of influences from Africa, Spain, and her own indigenous peoples. Like its heritage, the countryside and animal life are rich in diversity: Venezuela is in the top 10 countries on Earth for variety of animal species and plant life. Today's Doodle shows this off in spades — the sparkling Colibrí Coliblanco takes wing across our home page, a native bird of Venezuela.
