Valentine's Day 2017 (Day 4)
This Doodle’s Key Themes
This interactive game Doodle celebrates Valentine's Day
About the Doodle
Today's featured species is the Philippine pangolin! Pangolins are the world’s only scaly mammal. The eight species of pangolin that roam the wilds of Asia and Africa are strong swimmers who rely on their long tongues and heightened sense of smell to find nourishment.
Sadly, pangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world, and all 8 species face a significant threat from poachers and smugglers. Check out the World Wildlife Fund to learn more about the the pangolin’s plight and to support WWF’s efforts to save the pangolin and other endangered species.
Day 4: The Philippines
By the time Pangolin reaches the Philippines, love is in full bloom. But even after all this work to build the perfect date, something still feels like it’s missing...
Just then, Pangolin’s powerful sense of smell leads it to the answer: flowers! Luckily, the forest is a good place to start gathering blooms.
Bouquet assembled, Pangolin searches and spots his scaly sweetheart in the distance, surrounded by the sunset’s glow. Pangolin attempts a smooth greeting, but oh no! - the weight is too much for one mammal to carry. Heartbroken, Pangolin prepares for the worst: will the fairy tale end before it even began?
All of a sudden, a sweet plot twist! Pangolin is greeted with the perfect Valentine, straight from the heart. The two roll out on an adventure with the greatest gift of all - each other
In the end, the Pangolins learn that love isn’t about the perfect bouquet, dessert, song, or dance. Love is about the experiences we share, and the time we spend together.
The Doodle team has been hard at work for several months to bring Pangolin Love to life. We hope you’ve enjoyed following Pangolin on its journey to find love!
