Saudi Arabia National Day 2024
This Doodle’s Key Themes
Today’s Doodle celebrates Saudi Arabia’s National Day! On this day in 1932, Saudi citizens celebrated the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On National Day, citizens decorate the streets with the green national flag — like the one in today’s artwork — and attend parades, festivals, concerts, and more. The country’s capital Riyadh holds the main celebrations including the highly-anticipated Saudi Hawks Air Show where people can watch an impressive display of jet fly-overs. Many also customize their cars with celebratory symbols and turn heads when they race through the roads.
National delicacies like kabsa (rice with meat and vegetables), martabak (stuffed pancakes), ma’amoul (nut-filled cookies), and more are enjoyed throughout the day. To end the holiday, massive firework shows light up the night sky while Saudis cheer for another year of progress, prosperity, and pride.
Happy National Day, Saudi Arabia!
