Saudi Arabia National Day 2019
This Doodle’s Key Themes
Today’s Doodle portrays Saudi Arabia’s distinctive green flag, which will be seen flying across this Middle Eastern nation today in honor of Saudi Arabia National Day.
The holiday commemorates the announcement of the Saudi Kingdom’s unification on September 23rd, 1932 by King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud. Buildings and public spaces will be adorned with green decorations and green balloons given away at many parks and shopping centers.
The holiday became an occasion for traditional festivals, art exhibitions, entertainment programs, and other cultural events. The historic city of Old Jeddah hosts poetry, music, and film exhibitions.
For many Saudis, today is a chance to spend time with friends and family and reflect on their country’s progress, as well as on their hopes for the future.
Happy National Day, Saudi Arabia!
