Paris Games Begin!

This Doodle celebrates the start of the 2024 Summer Games, where records are broken and history is made. For the first time ever, the City of Light kicks off the ceremony not in a stadium, but with thousands of athletes floating down the Seine. C’est parti! 

The competition begins with a day full of festivities including a speech by the host country’s leader. After a parade of athletes from participating countries, the cauldron is lit.

Over the next few weeks, top athletes worldwide will come together to compete in events like track and field, swimming, basketball, and gymnastics. Many are excited about the competition's newest events — break dancing at Place de la Concorde and surfing in Teahupo’o!
