Oman National Day 2024
Today’s Doodle celebrates Oman’s National Day!
On National Day, celebrations start with students singing the national anthem Salâm as-Solṭâni or النشيد الوطني العماني . Many lively events such as parades, cultural performances, camel races, horse shows, and other festivities are hosted for all to enjoy. City streets and buildings are decorated with vibrant lights of green, red, and white, as well as the Omani national flag — like the one in today’s artwork.
Families and friends gather to share meals with traditional dishes such as machboos (one-pot rice and meat dish), harees dijaj (slow-cooked chicken and barley), and more. To end the celebrations, several provinces around the country host boisterous fireworks displays that light up the night sky.
Happy National Day, Oman!
