Halloween 2012
This Doodle’s Key Themes
Halloween is definitely a favorite holiday for many folks... What's there not to like about carving pumpkins, dressing up and getting free candy? Last year many of you saw our giant pumpkin video and we thought "hmm how do we top this" (or maybe it was more of "that was really messy, let's keep it cleaner and less bicep intensive").
For this Halloween we decided to bring the trick-or-treating experience to the homepage. The hope was to capture a bit of that excitement you feel knocking on a neighbor's door to see what they're dressed as and wondering if you're going to hit the jackpot with the king size candy bar. Below is one of the concept sketches created as the ideas got flowing.
In efforts to not scare anyone we went the friendly monster route. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm still scarred from when the kooky lady next door greeted my friend and me with the most horrifying mask known to child and I did an immediate 180 and sprint-screamed down the driveway. This was not the goal, obviously.
Here are two passes at the street block...
Followed then by a step-through including the monsters and some of the movements.
There are lots of fun little surprises that hopefully you discover while virtually trick-or-treating (hint: the eyes follow you, cat in a can and more). We had a lot of fun with this... Hope you do too!
