Google Aliens 2000 - 4
This Doodle’s Key Themes
You’ve landed on the first-ever Doodle series!
In the early days of Doodles, senior leaders were probably just having some fun when they suggested that we show the company logo being abducted…. ! However, the art team took the request seriously and made not one, but FIVE alien take over Doodles — one for each day of the week, of course. Talk about mission accomplished?
In May 2000, five Doodles by illustrator Ian David Marsden followed aliens encountering the Google logo, then hauling it off to Mars (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Though Doodles are traditionally tied to a milestone date, this series was just for the LOLs.
And with that, our first-ever Doodle series made its Earthly debut!
