Finland Municipal Elections 2017
This Doodle’s Key Themes
It's Election Day in Finland, which only comes around once every 4 years. On this day, Finnish people go out to cast their ballots for their city's council, which will in turn appoint offices like the city manager, and the municipal executive board. This year, 295 municipalities elect their councils, all on the same day! FInland’s municipal elections are open to every adult who has lived in Finland for at least 2 years — even if they aren’t Finnish citizens. Today's Doodle honors Finland’s tradition of civic participation.
