About the Schultüte Doodle
This Doodle celebrates the Schultüte tradition in Germany when kids are given large cones packed with treats and school supplies on their first day of first grade. Smiling children across Germany head to the classroom with their decorated Schultütes in hand, eager to start the next chapter of their lives.
Schultüte origins date back to the early 19th century, and the first documented reports occurred in cities like Saxony, Thuringia, and Jena. It wasn’t long before these cornucopia-shaped presents sprouted across the country!
Inside Schultütes, kids often find gifts like their favorite sweets, colorful crayons and pencils, fun knick-knacks and toys, and more. Parents design each Schultüte with their childrens’ interests in mind. Not only are the cones a pleasant surprise for these budding scholars, but they also mark the first milestone in life — an exciting rite of passage from kindergarten to first grade!
