Q. What were your first thoughts when you were approached about the project?

A. I am always proud to see aspects of Vietnamese culture featured as Doodles. This kind of folk music is a beautiful string to the bow of Vietnamese heritage; it means a lot to be able to share it here.

Q. What were your first thoughts when you were approached about working on this Doodle?

A. I was really excited to try and depict the colour palette tied to this kind of folk music in the traditional clothing, instruments, and its usual setting amongst nature.

Q. Did you draw inspiration from anything in particular for this Doodle?

A. I got most of my inspiration from videos of people performing. These videos helped me to make sure that I drew the instruments anatomically correct, as well as to replicate the natural positions and hand movements with which they are played. The Google team helped me a lot with that.

My inspiration for the singing starling, which is accompanying the singer, comes from a traditional song in this style called "lý con sáo".

Q. What message do you hope people take away from your Doodle?

A: Vietnamese traditional music and instruments are just cool. I'd love for people to learn more, play more and keep the art form alive.
