Canada Day 2024
This Doodle’s Key Themes
Today’s Doodle celebrates Canada Day, a day to celebrate all things Canada, including our breathtaking landscapes, our diversity, our culture, and of course our Canadian wildlife! Did you know that the polar bear, the Canada goose and the moose all hold a place in the history of Canadian currency, appearing on our $2 coin, on the $5 bill and on commemorative coins over the years?
Canada Day festivities are happening across the country - from vibrant parades and community barbecues to dazzling fireworks displays and live music performances. Cities and towns come alive with red and white decorations as many Canadians proudly display our national colours, sing O Canada and celebrate the place we call home.
Today is a day for Canadians to celebrate, but also to reflect on our country’s past, present and future. This includes reflecting on the work that needs to be done to move reconciliation forward with the Inuit, First Nations and Métis peoples who have inhabited this land for generations past and present. These rich histories, traditions, and contributions are woven into the core fabric of our communities. By celebrating the achievements and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, we can help foster a more inclusive future for everyone.
Happy Canada Day 2024!
