About the Bastille Day 2025 Doodle
This annual Doodle celebrates Bastille Day! The 14th of July, or Fête Nationale, is France's national holiday, celebrating both the symbolic storming of the Bastille in 1789 and national unity. The artwork, created by French artist Emilie Tronche, depicts a group of friends riding along the Atlantic coast watching fireworks.
Across France, it's a day of grand celebrations. Paris hosts a spectacular military parade on the Champs-Élysées, followed by dazzling fireworks over the Eiffel Tower at night. Throughout the country, towns and cities feature lively "bals des pompiers" (firemen's balls), concerts, and popular gatherings, all imbued with strong patriotic spirit. It's a vibrant display of French history and national pride.
